Try a battery reset. Negative terminal off for at leaste 20 min. On E70/71 with N57 the oil level reading max on dip stick is 3/4 of max, when you set the level to max by dip stick you get in I-drive error, oil level too high. Have to drive the car for long term oil level measurement. On software update what ecu-s were flashed?

In the DDE, ISTA ECU functions there should be an oil level reading amongst the engine parameters. Go to it, check oil level then drain a few litres and check again. If it reads OK then reflash and recode the CIC and DME. You could also just disconnect the level sensor and see if DDE detects this
