Hi
While i'm completely newbie to MB diagnostics i'm in need to take care of small MB fleet.
Could anyone please explain in few words what should i get to have comprehensive MB support in my workshop in terms of diagnostics ?
I assume C3/C4 are some heads/multiplexers which are working with DAS or Xentry diagnostic software? Why there are DAS and Xentry ?
What is eCom then (i know it's hardware...) ?

HHTWin / DAS Works on cars upto 2001~3 (but it's not fully capable because it's base on module some are newer some are older)
DAS / Xentry works on 1998~UP (but it's not fully capable because it's base on module some are newer some are older)
Hardware
C3 Bulky Old popular, Sold to anyone but nolonger available, wires for connections are different then C4-C5
C4 Wireless capabilities Sold to anyone but nolonger available
C5 Completely wireless ONLY LEASED on USA Markets, been design with newer OS's in-mind(win7 8 10 etc..)
I want to buy C5 (ORIGINAL) but everytime i remind myself that i do not want to deal with theft recovery and i stick to C3/4
Before i read A MYTH(s) about C3/4 that C3 is much slower and soooo much other BS, until i tested Fake C3/4 original C3/4 on same cars just to provide to my self the truth of what i heard and read and all are JUST COMPLETE BS by people that DO NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO READ OR WRITE
Just because somebody is still on IBM Laptops that are produced in 2001~6 does not mean it can not work on SSD i3/5/7/OR OR OR.....

Be careful, not head Xentry Connect c5 Clone.
Read the headline of an article for sale.
It is a SDconnect inside with housing C5
It is false.
It is best to ask for pictures of the motherboard and the casings inside to see.

That C5 is a fake one. Actually it's a C4 in a so called "C5" box.
Don't bother about eCom because you'll not need that and also very expensive compared to clones.
Vediamo is another software for Mercedes, out of DAS, Xentry, XDOS, Monaco....
Honestly, there are too many to be said and doing this by yourself without the basic info about this system will be a nightmare for you.
If you like to be up and running search forum for paid solutions and let experts do the hardest part for you.
There are guys who are selling full pack (hardware and software).
Don't jump on first Chinese site and buy what you think is good. You'll end with a horrible hardware and software with dongles which all they will become your biggest nightmare ever.

Well that`s the reason of this thread - to know what to get and what not to get
Before i get know basic knowledge i don't think buying anything makes sense. I linked up rice page just for clarification purpose, usually i get OE tools as long as they are available and price doesn't seem to be ridicolous.
So what is eCom ? What are the differences/purpose of all these (xdos,xentry,vediamo) software floating here ?

eCOM its other special good tool which works with vediamo.. dts moanco..

I want to ask a C4. need expert answer here.
if installed an Xdos 12-2015 up or Das xentry 12-2015,
and use C4 clone, can the C4 use and diagnose perfectly on newer car,
i.e. W222, W205, W212 which i heard using uds protocol ?
Anybody ever tried it on the car i said above and can saw all the control unit without any error ?
also which site i have to look for the C4 and which SN c4 is good for latest xentry/xdos?
