Use vm player or vm worksation
not oracle virtual box/part of linux group and it will work

Thanks for the suggestions, Ross. I've been using VM for some time, and heard VB was much better (I prefer it so far) but if nothing I want to use works with it, then so be!

I tried it also with VirtualBox and a lot of different settings but failed.
With Vmware it was possible. Add the following parameters to your *.vmx file:
isolation.tools.getPtrLocation.disable = "TRUE"
isolation.tools.setPtrLocation.disable = "TRUE"
isolation.tools.setVersion.disable = "TRUE"
isolation.tools.getVersion.disable = "TRUE"
monitor_control.disable_directexec = "TRUE"
monitor_control.disable_chksimd = "TRUE"
monitor_control.disable_ntreloc = "TRUE"
monitor_control.disable_selfmod = "TRUE"
monitor_control.disable_reloc = "TRUE"

i have downloaded this and no matter how many times I try this i get one of these two problems;
it starts and says this message
"error: winols is not complete or is not an original. please repeat the installation"
or
It opens fine and tries to update and asks me for a password and login and never gets any further.
I have tried it on windows 10, windows vista and windows xp pro
I also have a copy of VMware running windows xp pro and a different copy of Winols. it runs good but it wont load checksums. I am using Rod-Benders tutorial for checksums but it doesnt even load the checksums when i open the original file. can anyone help me?

This is normal state for winols 2.24 see pics, winols can be run indefinately the 50 times counter will not change.
Winols 2.24 will not correct eprom checksums only flash ok.
