What tools do I need if I want to install an used cluster on a F model? I need some tool to change the vin but what is it name again? thinking

Simple way
Switch eeproms 35160

Or use can blocker in dash

R270 good version can erase this version of eeprom.
UPA can read old eeprom and write to NEW one.
Smok Eraser are expensive and professional tools.

Not sure about F series

on E series you just delete VIN code and zero mileage,
then you just code it and thats it,

as bmw335coding mentioned good R270 should do that

wondering about F Series

I use R270, works pretty good, but I often have to solder out the 160D and on F Series cluster it´s placed on every version of the cluster on a different place.

I dont know who has tried to install a used cluster on F30, but it is not working for me. The VIN is not only in the eeprom, and cannot be changed even with AH II. The tampering dot stays no matter what I did.

Done many of them with R270 no problems at all. Best way is to desolder eeprom erase mileage and remove vin.

When complete code it with E-sys and should be ok.

On some F series clusters, EEPROM has the serial number thats recorded in MCU, so you can not just exchange EEPROM
