[Guide] How to clone iPhone screen to CIC - dexters84 - 15-10-2016

I didn't find very precise guide on how to get all smartphone goodies on CIC screen so I've experimented a little and here is a working solution.

What do you get?
A clone of your iPhone 4/4S screen on CIC

What good is a clone of my iPhone on CIC?
Press ALT+F4 right now to find out.

Prerequisites:
  • Jailbroken iPhone4 or iPhone4S
  • DisplayOut Cydia Tweak
  • tsLock Cydia Tweak
  • BMW iPhone Media SnapIn
  • Any video file playable by iPhone, preferably without sound (less annoying afterwards), make the file couple of minutes long

This solution was tested using iPhone 4 with IOS 7.1.2 and 2012 BMW F10

Steps:
1. Connect iPhone to SnapIn
2. On iDrive menu in BMW select SnapIn as source (not the iPhone inside, SnapIn as device). This step attaches external display to iPhone
3. On iDrive control panel press CD button to go into source selection screen and choose iPhone seated inside SnapIn and open video library of connected iPhone. Choose previously prepared video file and let it play on CIC
4. While the file is being played on CIC go to Music app on connected iPhone and open "Now Playing" section. You should see controls for your video file playback.
5. Press Pause, the file on CIC screen should stop playing and the screen should go dark.
6. Press home button on iPhone to exit Music app. To be certain that your file will not come back on you can kill music app by double pressing home button and removing Music app from memory.
7. At this point you should see your iPhone screen on CIC. Thanks to tsLock any app supporting landscape will switch to this mode after launching.
8. Profit ...

There is a small drawback.
If you would like to listen to any music you must play it from iPhone directly. Control on the steering wheel will not work as the car still thinks you are playing the initial video file.

Credits go to @RoberMC from Bimmerfest forum. His post was a very good start to make cloning work.

Does Google Maps work? You get audio?

Everything works. It's a fully working screen mirror.
Please keep in mind though iPhone 4 gets IOS 7.1.2 max and is a bit slow for today standards.
GPS could be more accurate as well.
I use it for YouTube and music videos mainly.
