Ista/p update fails - tonemoz - 20-12-2016
Hi.
Is it possible to clear ista/p registry entries after a failed update attempt, so the exe can be run again? Is so which entries need to be cleared?

I had similar issues with Windows 10 x64. I had uninstalled 3.59 and trying to install 3.60 using the exe failed every time. I was resigned to a clean install of Windows. As a last ditch effort, I tried the extracted msi installer (contained in the exe). It worked (after a second try, long story...) for the 3.60.0 and then I was able to continue installing updates using the exes.
Your mileage may vary but before you re-install everything, you might try this.

Use regeditx trial and search your registry for each istap 3.60.x.xxx version and delete any keys that it find. For example start with 3.60.0.600 then 3.60.1.003 and so on. For every version that you had installed, there's normally two entries and both would need to be deleted. This is the work around I used to install manually with .exe files.
Using the msi installer may not require to clean the registry so you can give that a try first...

ISTA-P will also fail to upgrade if you've modified the ISTA-P files to enable ExpertMode (single module programming, etc). If you've modified the ISTA-P files in any way, you have to return them to their original files before attempting to upgrade.

I never even launched ISTA-P, and could not seem to install 3.60.2. I tried deleting registry as well as directories and replacing with untouched versions. Nothing worked.
I just reformatted and installed 3.60.0 > 3.60.3 without issue.

My ista-p 3.60.3 failed for some reason...And now I have the same problem. Cannot even install 3.60.0.600
I used the regeditX to remove the reference of 3.60.x
The install starts - unpacks everything and keep saying Preparing install... Any Idea beside reinstall Windows?
