Megan mk2 airbag light and service text - meganecc - 11-03-2017

the airbag light and service text has just come on for no reason. I want to turn both off and find out where the problem is. I have already unplugged, wd40 and reconnected the two connectors under the seat. I have also disconnected the battery and reconnected. I may have sorted the problem but just need the lights resetting.

I have bought an obd2 plug in device to attach to my android tablet but no idea what app to use. I have also looked at a plug in scanner code reader Renault i907. looking for advice here.

I am happy to buy what ever is the suitable tool as I intend to have the car for some years.

Airbag fault/serv light should go out on most renault cars without computer as long as the problem has been fixed, if not you'll need to check the fault codes, most generic scanners can do that, clip is'nt necessary for now.

Thanks for replies. Will be purchasing a Renault I907 scanner as this appears to cover all systems. The Apps market for my tablet pc with an ELM plug in is to confusing.

Bought a i907 scanner which has displayed codes DF072 and DF071

Off to research the codes.

Check plug for airbag driver , join resistor 2-3 ohm and try clear errors , if not succes then wiring bad, if success then airbag bad ...

I have seen videos of people using a multimeter to test the rotary clock spring but no one has said what the multimeter needs to be set to. mine is basic digital display that does not beep, what am I looking for in the display to say good or faulty.

the df071 and df072 codes both indicate the rotary, just want to make sure before I buy

HI in your meltemeter select the bip position and test
in your clock spring you have 2 plug (gren/blue) in the front a 1 plug in the bac
test the continuity from the front to the bac of your spring
good luck
