BMW CIC - Convert F series to E series CIC - intel123 - 15-04-2017

So, opinions... possible ?
I know its not a problem to flash E series CIC to F series one and make it work, but how about vice-versa ? To convert F series device to be used in E series...

Surely there are differences in hardware ? Are you taking about recompiling a CIC kernel to work in an NBT ?

And then there is the question of CANBUS2, but i suppose if you re-compile the CIC kernel, then this is no problem from a source code point of view. But again, is the hardware of the NBT backward compatible ?

He is talking about F series CIC and E series CIC. NBT is different...

Well, any ideas? I bought CIC from F10 by mistake smile
Is there any posibilities to flash it to E series? I have ICOM A+B.

And, I'm wondering how to flash E-series to F-series? What tools do I need for that? And what's the problem to flash it back to F?

No GW module,
CIC in the e-series has CIC GW (gatway module)
in the F-series GW has ZGW, the ZGW module from ESYS is needed for programming
GW needed for communication
MOST-CAN
in the F-series, the work of ZGW does
in E series CIC GW

you need to add serial to V850 with some IO and VCC for front panel, then flash V850 to E-Serie dump, same with spansion flashes, and you have E series CIC, same as with Combox, just flash spansion and get E series.

Problem with some devices can be canbus transcievers if changing spec between BN2000 and BN2020, but this can be reworked on the board by replacing transciever with compatible one, as firmware form the new dump will try to initialize it on correct freq.

Intel123... the problem I know so far is there is no known dump for v850 which AFAIK is NEC D70F3366?
