Mini one 1.4d 2004 remote key problem - domelec - 11-12-2017
Hi
daughters mini one 1.4d remote stopped working
the car had been sat in drive for the last 4 years so battery was no good
she passed her driving test so i had to get the car mot'd etc for her so bought new battery etc
the car key battery was replaced too which let to the drivers door locking and unlocking with key fob
now the key fob fell to bits so bought a new fob and took out the pcb and put into new fob.
now it wont unlock or lock any door
replaced remotes battery for a new one just incase but this hasnt changed anything.
the info on the net about insert key and do this and that etc dont work
any ideas ? or do i have to find my inpa hardware (cant remember where it is, after all the cars not been touched in 4 yrs so neither as the diagnostics lol)

Hi, have you got IR-RF tester to see if the fob works, some times the battery terminals getting cracks or dry solder on the PBC side.
And if you are sure that the fob is ok try this.
1. Have all the keys on you when you get into the car.
2. Get in and shut the doors (don't open them until your finished programing)
3. Put a key in the ignition and turn to the first click, then back and take the key out all within 5 seconds
4. Now hold down the unlock button, while holding it down press the lock button 3 times, then release the unlock button, the doors should lock and unlock. DON'T touch the doors or door locks yet.
5. Repeat action 4 for any other keys
6. Once you've finished doing this to all the keys you can open the door or put a key in the ignition to finish the programming.
7. Try the lock and unlock with the keys, they should work, if they don't try again, the sequence is critical. If you cant get them to work a trip to the dealer will be happening. It worked for me good luck.
If that doesn't work, try this:
1. Get in car and close doors.
2. Insert key into ignition.
3. Turn key almost to the point of starting and back 4 times.
4. Remove key.
5. Hold down the "unlock" button on the key and push the center "lock" button on the key three times, releasing the unlock button on the key as you release the last of the three "lock" pushes.

The remote works fine
theres even a red led that flashes when buttons pressed

Hi
i have tried these methods for the last 2 months over and over again they dont work
the key is a 2 button key if this helps
i have also just found some info about puting key in ignition then take out and point at back of car (ariel) holding unlock button in and pressing lock button 3 times
this also does not work
looking like i better find diagnostics out

Just found the interface (old serial rs232 1 ) ediabas obd2 cable and now just charging the old dell laptop to see if the software is still on it
will soon see

Tried all sorts lol
cant find how to resync keys in inpa either
not getting anywhere with this
will go try ignition on off 4 times again
but as said this is a 2 button key, there is no centre button
just been outside and tried the 4 times and still no luck
trying to find out how to do it with inpa now

did you test it on RF tester?
Fact that led works does not necessarily means remote transmits signal and works properly...
