E39: LCM change vin tool32 ? - Fx82 - 30-03-2018
On a '97 E39 the lcm has been replaced. It now needs a correction on the vin and mileage.
Is this possible with tool32? I don't have BMW Scanner and not planning to buy it for 1 time use.
Is it possible to connect the lcm on the bench?

It might be possible but for how long it would take to find out I would just spend the $8.50 on BMW Scanner.
Oh and you can connect to it on the bench but you need the dash to act as a gateway/protocol converter

For the lcm and cluster I only need to connect + and - and a wire which connects to the cluster?
How do I connect both to the obd port?

You need to connect + and - from cluster and lcm. If you use High cluster, then connect cluster K-line to obd pin 7. LCM i-bus take from cluster.

If you want to connect on bench, you can only connect for LCM if you have OBD interface!
Because you can switch the normal OBD interface to K-BUS interface. On the obd.ini you must change "MODE=NORMAL to MODE=KBUS"!
Than you can connect the OBD interface direct to LCM, pin 7 to K-bus pin in LCM.
But how to edit the VIN and the odo i have no idea.

I'm using a can bridge interface.
Is obd.ini for a specific interface?

Is it possible to program the eeprom of the lcm? I do have a R270.
