ICOM Wireless setup - Vacheron - 06-05-2014

Hi, I have an original A2 ICOM and a standalone ISID (ISTA/P, ISTA/D) setup. I am trying to make it work wireless.
Does anyone know if I can do it adhoc (Laptop to ICOM) or I need a router connected to Laptop?
Is there anything I need to know about the router settings or Settings in the ISID setup?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can't using the built in icom wifi, you can use two tp link mini routers and one of them you configure in client mode to connect to the other router this way you can have wireless

Thanks for the answer but I have seen setups that work with the build-in wifi of the ICOM and 1 router on the laptop

It requires wifi profile which is automatically created when you have an ISAP registered in your isis server then it's gets uploaded to ISID

I have trying to get ny new icom next to work via wlan.

with lan cable it works like a charm with beemerboys ista+ and with launcher istap and of course with standard tools via easyconnect/itoolradar.

by wlan:
i have router and ssid named bmw icom, so icom is visible on ista+ but if i try to connect car it stop to error 0006 cannot connect vechile.
in itoolradar icom shows: bmw-vci@unsupported na/na

RE: ICOM Wireless setup - Node - 06-05-2016

In my experience I had IToolRadar to show bmw-vci@unsupported when wifi signal level was very low. I then moved wifi antennas to outside of icom a2 clone and that helped considerably. BTW I was using direct connection from laptop to icom without any routers. I found nice program connectify which helps to setup virtual wifi access point on laptop (although its possible with command line scripts, but its really painfull and sometimes it just did not work and you can't change ip address of such connection, with connectify it is possible).

So i answer for myself, icom not work with normal router method, it need wifi AP routing mode, so here is solution:

Download virtual ap software here-- http://www.mypublicwifi.com/publicwifi/en/index.html (or elsewhere you want) run it and make automatic hot spot connection by your icom settings and dont select internet sharing.

RE: ICOM Wireless setup - Bimmeristi - 07-05-2016

Have you first done ICOM wifi setup all ready? It should works via router if setup done and ICOM use same settings with router.

RE: ICOM Wireless setup - Fonser - 17-06-2016

If you want to use the WLAN of the Icom, you need Virtual Wifi Router or MyPuplicWifi. Windows already has the funktion. These two tools use this funktion. Not every network card supports this hotspot feature.
