Yes with latest firmware mkIV will read double layers dvd

I get nowhere the DVD-R DL only the DVD + R DL

I used earley DVD+R DL and it works. With new drive or laser in MK4 DVD DL will work, but drives have 10 or more years, so it can be problem. You can always remove languges and POI. Map will work.
