Rear View Camera retrofit (F20) - hugo325 - 24-04-2019

Hello everyone,

I would like to install a backup camera on my F20 (2012).
I already have the PDC option (S508A), however, I have some questions before starting.
Do you know if there is a reference for the central control unit including the "camera" button for the F20 ?

I am looking for this style of module:

I found modules of this style on the internet but never for the F20 ...

I have already purchased :
- TRSVC (control unit for reversing camera)
- Backup camera module bracket (support mounting)
- Rear camera
- Reverse backup Camera retrofit Cable Set wiring

My headunit is: HU_NBT2 (EVO), I'm missing hardware, equipement ?

I saw this type of installation for F20:

Do you know where to place the TRSVC module in my car ?
I found no information on the exact location of this module.
It must be near the battery ? Is there a dedicated site ?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards, Hugo

There are no center console operating unit with camera button on F20 officially.
The camera button is for call up side view (bumper view) on F3x with Surround View (5DL). Rear view camera is call by PDC button.

TRSVC module is mounted behind left trunk trim.

Hummmm, ok so the PDC button is also used to display the camera.

"TRSVC module is mounted behind left trunk trim", I have a car with the driver on the left side.
This module is located on the left also on this type of configuration ?
"behind trunk trim", it's directly in the trunk trim (the part of the trunk that opens) or it's in the trunk ? at the same level as the battery ?

I also noticed that there is different configuration to connect the item A2, A3 and A4 to the headunit.
Knowing that I have an HU_NBT2 (EVO), retrofit, I need to connect :
- A2 (FBAS-) to A42*1B, pin 24
- A3 (FBAS+) to A42*1B, pin 21
- A4 (Shield) to A42*1B, pin 23

It's right ?

Yes it's on left no matter LHD or RHD.

Ok thank you,
Do you have the installation instructions (rear view camero retrofit) for F20 ?
I only have for F30, F31...
This document is almost identical for F20 but I think there is some difference.

The pin assignment is the same, you can ref. it.
There is no official rear view camera retrofit kit on F20, so you will not find the EBA for it.

Ok, no worries for the manual, it is already well detailed wink

Hum I have another question about the TRSVC module location.
You suggest to put the module on the left trunk like this:

In the instruction document, he places the module near the driver's seat.
If we put the module in the trunk what will the wiring look like? Because there will not be enough cable length to go to the FEM module ?

I have another question about the signals: K_CAN_High and K_CAN_Low.
I need to connect them to the FEM module (passenger side).

I made a retrofit of the I-drive controller.
The old I-drive controller was in K_CAN1, I think... The new one is in K_CAN2.

Do you think I can connect directly to this connection ? Or do I have to go to the FEM module ?

it's better if you pull the cables up to the fem pins 51 and 52 in A173 * 8B

Ok thank you for your help.
Do you think that this architecture is correct ?

I just have to find a tutorial to dismantle the panels in my car...
