ACC not working after I-Level update F10 LCI - micklification - 07-03-2022

Hey there,

a friend of mine updated my BMW F10 LCI to newest I-Level 21-11-535. (with BMW Dealer laptop and Original ICOM). Everything went through without any problems in his ISTA. Now after about 5-10 km of driving, I get 2 errors in iDrive Display concerning the ACC sensor  (cruise control is working until the errors appear):

- collission warning deactivated
- distance information not available

I don´t think the ACC is broken because it is working for 5-10 km and it happened directly after software update/programming. After checking with my own laptop, ISTA+ 4.33.30 from Sedoy it also shows no errors.
Has anybody had a similar problem before or has any idea what to do?

I have already tried:
-manually resetting the ECU´s (ACC, KAFAS and ICM)

-disconnecting the battery over night

PS. Of course I asked my friend at BMW who made the update for me (since I have no ICOM) but he also doesn´t know what´s wrong and he assumed no warranty to me if anything happens while programming...
He said we could try to calibrate the ACC at the BMW factory with special hardware tools, but that would cost about € 200,- and I am not sure if this will solve the problem.

Post a photo of your car's front. I had a very similar problem on G30 and in the end it was a number plate frame which was protruding just a bit too low thus concealing the field of view of an ACC.

You have problem with ACC calibration. You need additional checking of ACC. Can check and try solve remotely - send PM.

You can calibrate sensor without mirror etc. remotly?

It is possible in case right position of radar. In other case - need to adjust by screw.

F10 need a mirror in front of ACC sensor for calibration and don't has screw to adjust. Sensor is in fixed position.

I'm talking about question what i solve many times by myself.

I'm talking about my F10 where I retrofitted ACC.
Didn't see a screw to adjust and calibration wasn't possible without a mirror.

I think there are 2 cases

1./ After the dealer updates the vehicle, the ACC may need recalibration.
2./ If ACC is retrofit, maybe when retrofitting they use FSC BE and BF Fake (FSC from another vehicle).
But that's also my guess

thanks, but I already checked if something is concealing the field of view of the ACC because
- I installed an after market front view camera (which is working flawlessly since 1,5 years) and thought maybe they changed some data and it is more accurate now, but I demounted it and the errors still appear.
- I painted the plastic grill in front of the ACC gloss black (maybe paint thickness? but also 1,5 years ago). So I demounted it, did a test ride without it but same errors appeared.

My number plate is mounted without holders by MagSign Werk 2 and the number plate is mounted above the lower edge on the front bumber. So I think I can exclude something concealing/blocking the ACC.

The radar should be in right position, no collission or similiar happened. The errors immediately happened at the first ride after software update.

I can measure some angles concerning the ACC in ISTA, could this help?

And how to calibrate it without mirror?
ISTA and my friend who works at BMW say that this needs a special tool (mirror), a bit similar to wheel alignment.

1. He said that he never had this before, sometime an ECU was gone but after reprogramming it would work again. But yes maybe this is the only thing I could try at the moment. But ~€ 200,- is not really cheap if I don´t even know if it is working aferwards...

2. ACC is no retrofit, all original.
