I'm looking for info on whether coding is suffcient to finish the conversion or DME modification was required as well

i think you will need flash from manual DME

Use ECU finder, select the spdaten, Write vin, write the pn, then press find,
Filter the selection by removing 205SA for automatic transmission, if it didn’t show up, press search without vin.
SA-Helper or Find ECU is the same thing, if u don’t have let me know so i can share it

I don't find manual DME option for the VIN I got: WMWRE31090TE98481 @ https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=RE31-EUR-04-2006-R53-Mini-Cooper_S&diagId=12_1132
also, in the latest SP-daten there's only one file in the kmmDat folder for R50, so Find ECU is not accepting the R50 folder - the folder for R56 is okay from this point of view
what do you suggest?
