Secure coding in BMWs (unit list) - Node - 26-02-2023

As there are new "surprises" in iLevel 23-03-xxx even on older chasses, here is the new full list of all secure coding modules. Modules which have no coding are included as well, just because it's much easier that way smile

Update: Added missing I020 chassis.

Update 2: PDF replaced by a searchable one (reworked by Thorsten).

Update 3: PDF replaced by one from SDP v4.44.20.

Hi Node, do you mean 23-03?

RE: Secure codings in SDP 4.40.12 - ferbmw - 26-02-2023

Hi Node, thanks for this info.
I have updated twice the software of my G20 ( S18A ), from 21-11 to 22-7 and from 22-7 to 22-11, and perhaps due to the equipment installed, I have not been asked for a secure coding password.
DME ,which is common to all models in general, is showing secure coding as well, but it was not so in my case, again, perhaps due to the level of equipment installed on my vehicle.
Anyway, will investigate what CAFDs are  installed to compare with the ones showed here.

Thanks again for this relevant information

There are 20 variants of DME/DDE in S18. Only 7 of them have secure coding. Yours probably is not (YET?). So enjoy while it lasts.

P.S. You will NOT be asked for password smile

If you try to program an ECU that required secure coding, will it tell you before the session starts, or at the encoding stage ?

You are right, it does not ask for password, it is secure coding asking for BMW secure back end validation?????

I wonder how this will affect the large number of standalone and offline ISTA users. It would be nice to know if after ISTA programs the modules, if it can't reach the backend for secure coding does it fall back to existing coding values?

Node

Thanks for posting this!  Curious as I don't see it in the attachment, however is the MGU2 moved to SC for I020 (iX) in 23-03-xxx?  I have to bring my vehicle in for some recall work and wonder if I will no longer be able to code my headunit after they bump the ISTEP of my vehicle to the current.

RE: Secure codings in SDP 4.40.12 - Node - 26-02-2023

OOPS, I020 data are new, so I did not notice that. Will add and reupload.

I020 added. Yes, MGU_02 is now secure coding in I020 :/

AFAIK offline ISTA will not even start to program/code if no connection to backend when even a single unit is secure coding. But I personally never tried what happens in such case.

RE: Secure codings in SDP 4.40.12 - st1 - 26-02-2023

Thought the latest per below threads was 4.40.11?
Just updated G82 to 4.40.11 with no issues, was on 4.39.20
