Are you stucked in 3rd gear? What car? Usualy it´s the ecu or the selector gear module, they get a problem with the CAN line. Go to the CAN juction and measure with the scope or multimeter, if you get 2.8V and 2.2V on CAN H and L, you have a faulty module. With the scope you will get a strang square wave...

I had conductor module repaired ,tried to get out of limp mode with autel 708 did not work (limited) then i tried autocom also limited so i invested in a mux c3 part d but can't get it to work with
software.. yet, but soon using (disinfetor) lets see what happens, i was looking for other solution while working on getting the mux to work

I don´t think coding is necessary, at least on the older models with 722.6. The only thing I had to do is the adaptation of gears opon replacement of the gearbox ecu. Can you comunicate with the delphi module (gearbox stick)? It won´t get out of 3º if that module does not comunicates.

Limp mode has different stages this is a hard code ,all valves shut off r350 does not move at all,if you replace module you need scn coding but i didn't replace i had it repaired so no coding required...it was
Y3/8N1 turbine speed sensor ,working now but no out put value y3/8n3 .autocom reports in limp mode

Usualy, problems with the speed sensors means that the black plastic board on top of valvebody faulty, they tend to make faulty contact. I still dind´t understud what did you have repaired, the gearbox, a module???
PS
on´t forget to check if the gearbox ECU has oil, when the cable plug isn´t replaced, the oil gets in thru the cables and reaches the ecu inside the car.
