VO coding from dealer - elc - 30-06-2015

Had some troubles with my E60 not heating up properly, even after replacing all three thermostats.
Dealer received a VO coding file from BMW to program into my car.

Is there any chance to find out what they coded? Dealer had no clue.
If not, any guesses to what they might have added to the VO?
Eventually it turned out it was the recently replaced gear box heat exchanger having failed once more. Ie. a hardware issue. Still curious to what they coded wink

What engine? N52k?

The only real way is to use NCS expert, interrogate the correct ECU, then read the TRC file as a .man file using notepad.

The only issue here is that if you had the original ECU dump of the car, then you could see the difference, as all you'd be doing is reading the VO now written to the ECU by the dealer ?

You should be able to pick away & work out what was added perhaps ?

HTH hi

I do not understand, why coding?

Yes, both me and my dealer were surprised that BMW support sent a VO file for coding. Engine is M57TU2.
For all I know, they might have coded the IHKA instead of ECU. Or maybe gearbox software (to make engine run on higher rpm when cold).

Guess I'll be looking for the needle in a haystack, even with NCS Expert.

Edit: Only thing I seem to notice, is warmer temperature inside the car. Maybe they just altered the climate temperature setpoint laughing

Yes, that was exactly my problem - the heat exchanger.
It has been replaced three times now, and BMW could not believe it was the heat exchanger once again. Therfore they sent some new VO-file to be coded that even my dealer didn't know what was for.

Is VO only installed equipment/features, or is it more?
