Volvo S60 2.4 2006 Cold engine starting problem - mariux0510 - 22-01-2024

Hello,

Maybe somebody can modified file for better starting cold engine, because if engine cold then starting very bad. And for some reason the output for glow plugs is not 12 volts but about 6 volts. Changed glow plugs relay, coolant temperature sensor, repair injectors, check wiring but no one helped.

Volvo S60 2.4 2006
ECU: EDC16C31
SW: 1037395577
HW: 0281012103

Thanks!

My friend glowplugs are low-voltage, that is normal.
Your glowplugs are 4.4 or 7v, depends on the engine you have.
You will never get 12v on the glowplugs.
Your problem is elsewhere, not the glowplugs.

No, for this car glow plugs 11v.

for your ecu edc16 glow plugs 4.4V, edc15 uses 11v glow plugs

Double check your fuel rail pressure when engine cold, and compare to normal pressure on Vida.
Repaired injectors means nothing, unless it's a an official bosch accredited. those injectors are very known to leak,
even 1 leaking a bit, its dropping the rail pressure and car wont start cold, but that low pressure could be enough to start when engine warm.
(and the starters are slow on D5 engine)
I experienced the exact same problem on an early M57 bmw, old similar bosch system, the engine was running perfect when hot,
basic injectors return flow checked engine cold>>>one of them was pissing much more, when replaced that one and car was fixed.

No, because edc16 can be 4.4v and 11v glow plugs

Problem solved.
Thanks everyone for your help.
The glow plugs were not like that, because the owner of the car changed them without even looking at what they should be fail . Because this car with EDC16 ECU can have 11v or 4.4v glow plugs. After checking this with the VIN number it has 4.4v glow plugs.
