First ISTA install - SOLVED - R1c4ard06 - 27-02-2024
Hi, I have been trying to get ISTA working for a week or so. To clear errors and update modules on my 435d F32 trying to sort a swirl flap error. First instance I wanted to update the module and go through tests. Local BMW dealer was going to update module for £100 then I got a call will need to do a full test for another £450 with no guarantee would solve issue. Hence after some research a PSU and Next ICOM I am now stuck.
I have ISTA+ 4.39.20 data_swi 4.45.30 which reflect in the registry and correct OS paths as far as I can tell.
Whenever I connect to the vehicle test I get "The programming system could not be initialised"
I have noticed dealer info is WinFasta.
Is someone able to point me in the right direction to get this working please.

I normally use ESYS to flash and code modules over ISTA. E-sys gives you more control.

Thanks I will look into ESYS, i'm guessing that will be a step learning curve to wrap my head around once I can get ISTA working in the first instance.

Unless you provide MUCH MORE information WHAT and HOW did you install it, logs, etc, no one will be able to tell you exactly.
Now all we can say is that your installation is NOT correct.

Ok, thanks. My log file exceeds upload limit if the complete file is required I can create a share link. I have included the latest errors in the attachment.
OS Windows 11 pro 64bit 32GB ram
Install files were copied to a 4tb internal disk and then the standalone installer run and installed to F disk
Install files as per below

| setup.ini (need to compare files with MD5 hash)

Setup runs without issue, it is the programming side I cannot seem to get running
I then created folder F:\EC-APPS\ISTA\PSdZ\data_swi and extracted all files from SDP_4.45.30.7z into this folder
I then amended the ISTA_reg_Fix_x64.reg reg file from regfiles_full_sdp_blp to as per below with notepad++

ISTA shows the programming data as correct version. However as soon as I get a connection from ICOM I start to get the error.

That registry thing has NO relation to programming WHATSOEVER!
