if anyone has problems with connecting the usb adapter ftdi chip to inpa and ista for bmw e53 probably also for the other older models e39 e46 etc... I think I have found a solution, when I connect to the car (e53 m62b44 2001), ista did not connect at all, only inpa, but inpa only connected to dme and egs, the other modules did not work connected to inpa.

so I removed the cable from the obd port, inserted it again and quickly opened the k+dcan utility 2.0 application I clicked on 500kbit/s d-can & pt - can I selected the com1 port then I tried again, luckily in my case it worked. I hope I could help you.
