2011 ford focus turbo replacement
Hi I recently bought a 2011 ford focus 1.6 tdci which has blown its turbo
and yes ive read the horror stories regarding this engine/turbo failures prior to posting here
so heres the background 1st, car has 80,000 original miles, fsh, been owned from new, and never missed a beat at all, I know this to be fact as I bought from a close friend very cheap
the car was running fine, loss of power, drove in limp mode for 1 mile, then oil light on and engine malfunction message where the owner at the time turned vehicle straight off, and called his recovery (RAC in uk) upon arrival the so called expert started car for roughly 1 minute to try and move of the carriage way, but diagnosed failed turbo, obviously car would not move but previous owner said for that minute idled as normal, and nothing was untoward, so he and the rac expert pushed off road to safer place, car was taken to garage who would normally service the car, (more idiots, as they have made a right mess of the sump to gain access to inspect grrrrr
so now I'm in the process of repairing this car, at the moment I have turbo, intercooler ,dpf oil pump, oil filter and housing, and sump removed and all intake hoses off, and oil feed and return pipes/banjo bolts ect
and about to take off cam cover and remove injectors and clean carbon if needed, and replace injector seals
turbo shaft is fair amount of play and compressor wheel is in fairly good condition considering the amount of play, but has only just filed a very minimal amount of the casing, small amount of filings in sump pan, and small amount of filings in oil return pipe, no carbon build up around crank area, and no play on rods ect, and engine cranks manually as normal by hand
I'm going to replace obviously the oil feed/return pipes, oil pump, filters, banjo bolts (minus the stupid gauze) ect, ive already removed intercooler ( only small amount of oil was in there) and flushed it clean, now my concern is how or what do I do with the dpf?
should I leave as is, and hope for the best, or try and clean it also?
