XSMini  Auto Headlights issue - slow to switch off
I noticed that my 2017 MINI's F56 auto headlights come on virtually instantly when entering a tunnel, but then when I am back in bright daylight they seem to remain on for a while over 2 mins before switching off. Is this normal?  Is there a way to code them so they switch off sooner, say after 20 secs the same as the 2022 MINI's or BMW's auto headlights?  Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Why is this on the Mini? BMW led headlights go off within 10 secs? Thanks

Delay in Automatic Driving Light Switching on/off
M63 01 16 [SI] October 2017

Time-delay shutoff (after-running period) added to protect headlights (halogen headlights, xenon light and adaptive LED headlights).

When driving out of a tunnel or exiting underground parking, the automatic headlight remains switched on for two minutes, even in daylight.

Information
The above situation is normal operation. The automatic driving light switching on/off period can be shorter or longer depending on the conditions that resulted in low-light threshold being reached.

The following table details the various conditions/events and their programmed time-delay:

Ambient Light/Rain Change Event After-running time
Tunnel entry/exit 5 seconds
Garage entry/exit 5 seconds
Twilight/Daylight threshold 10 seconds
Manual wiper actuation 30 seconds
Automatic wiper actuation 120 seconds
DO NOT replace any part or program the vehicle.

The sensitivity of the automatic driving light can be adjusted with ISTA/P under the Retrofit/Conversion procedure by selecting “Conversion, set automatic driving lights control to very sensitive.” which will change the effective time delay for headlight turn on/shut off. This is not covered under the warranty and should not be invoiced as such.

Note: This conversion may not be available for all models.

Thanks for that. It all makes sense now. Appreciate it!
