Hi all,

I have a ZGW based bench and a USB-CAN adapter.  I'm trying to trigger component protection on an entrynav2 headunit on my bench, and no matter what I do, I cannot trigger component protection.  The headunit had firmware from 2019 on it when I purchased it, and it's from a BDC based car.  I've since flashed it to 22-11.

So far, I've tried: 

1.  Changing the vin of the ZGW so it doesn't match the headunit; 
2.  Changing the vin of the headunit via FSC extended tab in esys and via VO coding; 
3.  Sending a vin via CAN that doesn't match the vin that's visible when you run the HU_FSC_REFURBISH_VIN job in tool32; and
4.  Flashing the headunit with a vin that doesn't match the vin that's visible when you run the HU_FSC_REFURBISH_VIN job in tool32.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could trigger component protection on my bench?

You won't be able to trigger it with ZGW, don't try. Get BDC/FEM and KOMBI then you can try.

Thanks - I’m working on assembling a BDC bench.  I was hoping there’d be a way with ZGW by sending CAN messages.

Thanks - I’m sending a message to ID 380 that doesn’t match the vin that’s visible when I run the HU_FSC_REFURBISH_VIN job and it has not triggered component protection yet.  Any suggestions?

You can activate component protection on zgw as well. If you don't know how, I can do it remotely, unfortunately I can't share how to do it, sorry.
