ICOM Next issue...
Hello all
i have an issue with my BMW original ICOM Next... when i get it i had no pproblem but like after few month like 5 months the system green led dont blink at all when i connect the OBD and ignition ON... to make this System LED blink i have to disconnect my OBD cable wait like 10secondes (ICOM side because more easy) and plug it back and the system Led blink and ISTA D see my icom. i make an topic about this before but i fault this problem will be fixed if i make an Hard reset and update with usb dongle to the last firmware... unfortunatly i have always the same issue... the settings are by default. i have no router or internet where i use it... Any hope it can be some wrong settings in the ICOM Next ? or is defect ? |

RE: ICOM Next issue...
Or maybe you broke your ICOM by doing "because more easy"... There is a REASON why ground pins in OBD connector are longer - so they ALWAYS connect first. ICOM side - no telling which pins connect first and become "ground" for some time...
P.S. Sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe power supply or reset circuit on the ICOM board or some cold solder joint (starts to work after heats up a bit)... |

RE: ICOM Next issue...
i can understand that.
But before i get that problem i dont need to connect or disconnect the icom from the side of the icom. i was first plug the odb cable to the ICOM after the RJ45 to the laptop who was ON after that i plug the ODB cable to the car i turn on Ignition and finaly i launch ista D. i start to do that easy step since i get the problem with the icom because on my E64 is complicated to plug this stiff ODB cable in that area. Actia can solve that issue for free or need to apy ? i almost dont use that icom next because is only for my personal car... :/ |

There is @ferrum on the forum, he repairs ICOM. Send him a private message or email.
Do you have Ori or China? |

RE: ICOM Next issue...
If it's not too old it may still be covered by warranty (you can always ask). Else you will need to fix it yourself or buy another one.

RE: ICOM Next issue...
If the LEDs do not glow at all and do not blink at least for a moment, then this indicates a breakdown in the power system and restoring the firmware will not help. Almost always, if there is a breakdown, restoring the firmware indirectly and not for a long time solves the problem. In most cases, restoring the firmware only exacerbates the problem.

RE: ICOM Next issue...
You will not be able to solve the problem in this way. Knowledge is needed to identify a malfunction, and this is a very long and painstaking work of studying the board and documentation for microcircuits. Perhaps, of course, a malfunction is in bad self-resetting fuses, but I think that there is more likely a malfunction in the elements that form the power supply of microcircuits, and there are several of them
