Went to flash and it finished with Warning. No DTC errors or dash/CID warnings. Still looking at logs. When Read ECU, it shows new BTLD and SWFL. |

RE: BMW M4 GTS Trans Flash
So we had a look at our F80 today, changed the type code to M4 GTS. Was able to flash the EGS ok, the DME was greyed out though.
Kind regards |

Would there be an issue returning the car to standard afterwards? Many thanks. |

Yes it was possible, at least previously, to return software afterwards but no reason to test unless you have DME FSC. |

For GTS DME SWFL it's impossible : Different hardware (Water inj, for example, calibration of AFR etc etc) |

As stated, it will result in crippled, lower power "civic" version of ///M. |

RE: BMW M4 GTS Trans Flash
It is not forcing. It will flash and finish like normal (the DME,) but the car will be in a limp mode state without the proper FSC. Regardless, even a FSC was possible the car would error due to smaller oil pan, missing water tank and so on.
The FSC not being present/wrong FSC (IE comp package FSC with GTS flash) triggers the same limp mode as when the car detects a failure in the motor/chassis. The vehicle will still move/drive you will even hear the start up burble and burbles when you gas it and let off. I am assuming most these vehicles you guys are playing with are still under warranty, do keep in mind FATSA data is saved with your flash history (date, time and what was flashed.) The DME is very detailed with the information it saves. They can tell exactly at what time, kilometers and for how long you rev’d (held) at a certain RPM even. If you see the other end of FATSA data you will be shocked at how detailed and informative the information is. Most the FATSA data is generated when scanning the ECU, the portion you guys see on ISTA D that says FATSA is only the compressing of the data and transferring. You see how quickly INPA reads all the codes, you think they can’t do that? If you are an actual tech and submit a PUMA case for more support once someone is on the line with you and you start speaking to them the information they give you about the car is almost shocking. All the way up to about 2010/11 they would send an actual field rep out to scan the vehicles with special tools and software if something raised a red flag, with the release of the F chassis cars they almost removed sending people out. ISTA D does all the detailed reading sends it to HQ. E cars have little to no FATSA information. All I am saying is at the very least do not touch the motor/DME for any reason. |
