RE: BMW CIC PATCHER v2 - GENERATE YOUR OWN RETROFIT FSC CERTS
Noobie...So after a lot of reading I am thinking that this is the way to go to retro fit BMW apps to my 2012 e70 cic system, right? I currently have factory prof nav, with basic Bluetooth streaming, connected drive that shows BMW assist, BMW online but can't register on connected drive, says deactivated, and sirrius radio. What I'm not sure of is whether I should bother backing up any docs/fsc certs currently working before I run this to add the BMW apps fsc. I understand this patch tool will let me import all new personal fscs tied to my vin using fstool or ista (either one easier?)It seems that would post date and invalidate my factory certs right so why backup? After updating my own fsc I would have to generate the new map code as previous with the actual factory cert before nav will work after new cert import. Lastly have to add 6nr via coding to hu cic and cmb media with changed fa code. Think thats it. Is this worth it for BMW apps? Seems easy.

But after you have patched your HU, you need to replace all fscs, including 1b,17,19 etc.. So you should definitely don't use this method if you are unsure.. Also, you should make sure CIC+combox is latest firmware and that you have updated combox with UPD01008.BIN Then add 6NR with correct build date, FA_WRITE on cas/frm and then EXPERTMODE profile with "code with MAN file" unchecked. Do a SG_CODERIEN on CIC and COMBOX to make it work. After coding make sure you do a read on your new trace, search for "a4a" and it all should be set to "aktiv". RE: BMW CIC PATCHER v2 - GENERATE YOUR OWN RETROFIT FSC CERTS
Thanks for the detail.
I think I have it but first I'm going to code a bit more simply and try to code enhanced bluetooth streaming. Am I correct that there is no reason to backup the existing FSC certs prior to patching? or are there files I should copy via FTP before patching that I could reinstall for some reason??? |

If you ever need the "original" fscs and certs for your vin, just ask someone here on the forums nicely for a repair pack and you might get it. Coding bluetooth streaming can also be done by VO option coding, then fine-tune with settings and parameters for your preferences. Good luck! RE: BMW CIC PATCHER v2 - GENERATE YOUR OWN RETROFIT FSC CERTS
OK, I'm ready to try this out. Just want to be sure I generated the certs correctly as I only found some german instructions for FSTOOLS I translated. Here is what I wanted to be sure I did correctly:
1) I used the "template" certs in the zip file. 2) in FSTools I added the Zip file Private Key in the "keys" section. 3) I didn't change the Public Key in the Keys section (left the default one) 4) changed the Certs (FCS, ROOT, SIG) in FSTool certs section to the zip file ones. 5) loaded the Zip enabling codes (17,19,etc), changed my vin number. 6) Hit "sign", "check sign", then "saveas" 7) these are the certs I plan to import to the CIC after I verify latest software. Also I have Ista P and FSTool (and Dr gini and CIC Special Utility). Any one of these easier to import with? Thanks a million for the help, want to be sure I don't mess it up obviously |

RE: BMW CIC PATCHER v2 - GENERATE YOUR OWN RETROFIT FSC CERTS
Easiest way in may way scenario:
update cic , apply patch run fs tools edit fsc for 1b , 17 , 19 export to desktop close fs tools run dr gini, load created fsc(1b,17,19) import it then import all cert last step check it , everthying should be ACCEPTED, you can generate map code by your 1b file that you crated with fstools |
