It is difficult to help without enough information about what you have performed. A lot of people (including myself) have installed 7.xx and 8.xx successfully. So the first thing I would assume (may be not true) that you must have forgotten to do something or done something wrong!!

Detailed information about the platform and the steps taken to perform the installation is needed. Also, was it working at any stage? and at which stage did it fail?

I would like to encourage all to be forthcoming with information when posting a problem message, so that a problem resolution may be more efficient, and there are less posts (like this) requesting further information.
