i would strongly suggest you use CarSystems adapter or Custom Retrofit. Dont go anywhere near Bimmer Retrofit adapters. It is not very resilient. I had the misfortune of buying a few for E series and F series adapters (F-xx MOST adapter is even more problematic).

I will also definitely recommend using the ICAM. like shown here you can buy a casing for a cheapo china trunk handle camera and remove it (need to cut out the cam part) and then modify casing to fit the icam in. icam is definitely the way to go. just wire it up all the way to front and connect power ground, can to adapter and video +/- into headunit.
