All BL chips have same ept mate
 Those are not different because FTDI has a generic ID on BM/BL not a unique one as RL/RQ.

I have tested my VCDS 16.8 (firmware 1.96) with VCDs 17.1 and works fine. No firmware upgrade is needed.
