maybe someone found solution without flashing HU? last month i got 5 customers with this issue, reflashing helps, but sometimes not all users have proper equipment to do this

How comes that some HU with NBTevo_Y working without any issue and some are having issues with activating Carplay, shouldnt be all the same? Have done many Y versions and didnt have any issue with Carplay.

This seems not to be a legend...
I have faced same situation in G30. Updated to last ilevel HU (Y), and carplay stopped to working after a month... tried to connect but failed.
I have to applied patch for a second time and it worked... lets wait how many time it will continue working... if not I ll flash to 18-07

have similar issue, customer have activated carplay for year by feature installer, he come to dealer, updated software and reactivated again, carplay worked for 5 days, when suddenly stopped work. tried to reactivate, no luck, when backed to oem state after this done patch with hutoolpro, same problem, only after downgrade software to nbtevo_x, carplay started to work

They sure have tried, but didn't work. 
I suggest you to flash to latest I-step 22-07 and it should work, the version I tried and it worked flawlessly.
Also, to someone having troubles, can check the version of CAFD to see if everyone is having the same version.
My version is: cafd_00001EF6_006_062_006 and it worked normally after the Dealer updated I-step and used the same Feature Installer code.

Check whether Siri is enabled on the iphone or not, if not, you need to turn it on.

Siri is on.

What's strange is that when I try to pair the phone with the car, it gets to the final step where it says "Connecting to Apple CarPlay". Hangs there for a while and then I can see the phone listed for telephone, BT, apps but for CarPlay it tells me to delete device and pair again.

Also, the wifi 'BMWxxxxx CarPlay' is visible but the Phone won't auto-connect. If I connect manually, the phone already knows the password for this network but CP still wont show up.

Same problem, after update id4 to id5 (18/03).  impossible connection with carplay.

Could you solve this problem?

1.If CarPlay doesn't detect your iPhone, make sure CarPlay isn't restricted.  Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure CarPlay is turned on.

2.update ios.

3.restart iphone.

4.Uncheck any other Bluetooth devices connected to iPhone that may interfere or conflict with the device and the car while using CarPlay.

5. Wifi and bluetooth on. Try again.

It was my solution.  Made with an iPhone 13.
