Which version of Ista for BME E9x and what is the difference?
Hello guys,
sorry for my bad english... I've often read, there're many versions of Ista. C, D... and so on? Which version is the right for coding BMW E9x and F-Series? Second question, is it right, that Ista need and full functional version of INPA for basic? And, is a ODB-2-cable from Inpa correct to use for this? Thx a lot Yippy |

RE: Which version of Ista for BME E9x and what is the difference?
ISTA D (for diagnostic purposes) aka Rheingold covers all BMW and contains wiring diagrams, repair manuals and all other stuff needed for getting informaton of car.
ISTA P (for programming). Self explanatoring... You don't need INPA. INPA can't be used for F series anyway... OBD cable must have correct pinout in order to work. Better use ICOM ( or clone). ICOM A: main interface ICOM B: adapter for programming multimedia in E series ICOM C: adapter for old BMW with round 20 pin diagnostic plug ICOM D: adapter for motorcycles Hit Thanks and Reputation button if this post helped you.

It's not true, INPA can be used for F series easily.

Okay, with somesome scripts there' s the possibility to do that. But the question was whether INPA is mandatory for using ISTA.
It's not. Hit Thanks and Reputation button if this post helped you.

Strange, every time I have setup ISTA-D&P, my first step is to install BMW Standard Tools which installs a copy of INPA.
It is true that the copy of INPA that comes with Standard Tools 2.12 is pretty much broken/useless, but I thought that installing Standard Tools (including INPA) was the first part of setting up ISTA. @ yippy in case my post is confusing you, don't bother trying to install INPA as a separate package when setting up ISTA, but please install BMW Standard Tools - either original version if using ICOM or patched version if using D+KCAN. |

For E-series is best full standart tools( NCS, WINKFP, TOOL32) and ISTA-d for diagnostic.
For F-serias is ESYS and ista-d for diagnostic. Setubal-Portugal

I don't speak German but...
You said only coding - then you need 'mikebimmer' version of INPA and NCSExpert. For Fxx chassis it is mainly in German anyway so you have an advantage! All you need is a D+CAN lead. Approx €20 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
