ISTA Configure Device Button Disabled Greyed Out
Running ISTA 4.39.20 -  appears to work fine, can connect to ICOM.

9 month old genuine BMW ICOM Next with firmware 04-22-21.

Laptop connected to ICOM via ethernet cable (tested multiple cables).

Tested on multiple vehicles.

Subnets all match (255.255.255.0)

When I click on Connection Manager and select the ICOM to connect, the "Configure Vehicle Interface" button is greyed out - no matter what I try.

Tried disabling DHCP, firewall is off.

I completely removed ISTA last night, scrubbed the registry entries, and did a fresh reinstall.  Still the same result.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

you install the firmware MSI file on windows and then go to connection manager and not during "Operations"?

Do you have the following registry key set:-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\BMWGroup\ISPI\Rheingold\VciConfigPort = 58000

The registry key was missing but adding it didn't resolve the issue.  Thanks for the suggestion, there are a few other keys that are on my other laptop so I will experiment with them when I get a moment and feedback the results.

If you don't have that key, I'm pretty sure you have NOT installed ICOM firmware msis. As those installers are exactly what adds these keys. Without them you will not have this button enabled.

SOLVED:

I had the Firmware installed and it was showing in Add/Remove programs.

I removed the firmware using add/remove programs and rebooted the machine.

Reinstalled using the same MSI as before, and now I have more registry entries and the button appears.

Thanks Node, I can't explain how that happened, but thanks the whole escapade now have a greater understanding of what the MSI does!  Thank you.
