I pasted the VM in VMWare fusion. That's on a MAC, and it almost works. The software is by the same firm, and is able to import virtual machines from VMware player. The only thing i needed to change was the latency of the cable (I used a 10$ chinese knockoff cable). It was changed from 16 to 1.
there still appear to be some errors in translation? ludicure do you see errorrs using your more expensive cable?

Mine are not connected, but I have 335i, and it also worked on my friend's 530I.

If the other guy's VMware works for you, I doubt that the cable is the issue.

I used below post as reference for creating the VM. According to section "Known Limitations" in the post, M57 engine is not supported by this installation of BMW ST.

So, just to get back on the issue, the white board cable was the problem. I ended up in ordering another one this year, 17$ green board, FT232RQ chip and it works.

M57TU2 engine is also present.

So thanks for the VM and help with figuring out what the problem was on my side.

I am not sure if it is the cable issue since you can establish a connection with the car.

Well, that's the problem. I assume that it connection is ok because the cable led blinks. So far, I couldn't read anything from the car.

I have only used this set of tools on E60 530I, but not the diesel model like you have. I think that it could be the issue with missing or outdated daten files for the type of ECU you have. What happens when select "Functional Jobs"?

I tried to connect to the engine, by selecting it from INPA, problem is that I get an error, IFH-0009, if my memory serves me right.

Are your 7 and 8 pins connected? I have a switch on the cable, tried it both ways and still nothing.
