The logs are not text files how do I open them to read?

They must have extension .7zip.log

The file format is as follows.
YYYYMMDD_HHMISS_3.57.0.400_4.1.1_InstallerLogs.7zip.log

You must change the extension .7zip.log by .zip (eg)
Then, you can open the file with WinZip

Having trouble installing on top of my existing install.

I already un-installed the older ista-p, and tried to install on top but no luck.

Check log. you have space in HDD?

Yes I am using a 750GB HDD. Where is the log saved to?

If you have ISTAP V56 the best way is remove.
Check log in:
C:\ProgramData\BMW\ISPI\Logs\TRIC\ISTA-P

I ran into this problem attempting an upgrade from ISTA-P 3.56.3.002. For that version, I wasn't given an installer, so I had copied the bits directly to C:\ISTA-P. Without cleaning anything up first, I attempted to run the MSI and saw this same error.

I don't think it's a HDD space issue or memory issue as those checks are much earlier in the installer. And there's a specific message in the logs about failing the hardware check in this case.

I didn't attempt to resolve the issue in my case, as this was running ISTA-P in a VM, so I reverted to a checkpoint before ISTA-P was copied and run. The installer worked fine in a clean VM.

You can try running the MSI with more logging info by using this command:
"msiexec /l* ista-p.log /i BMW_ISPI_ISTA-P_SYS_3.57.0.400.msi"

Perhaps this will point to why the installer is stopping.

I was only able to find an error in the LaunchInstallation.log text.

Press small button on the top of ISTA - connection manager, it is look like a small book. ISTA should adapt ICOM which own requirements and update firmware if necessary. Did you turn off all firewalls and antyvirus softwares ?
