He is saying the Autohex is very good tool which is obviously true.
I did many downgrades using Winkfp expert mode but not actually on CAS but still possible to do it.

So ,some previous versions of ISTA-P has an error wchich programmed original CAS with ELV to device without ELV. New ISTA 3.57.1 works OK but if CAS previous was updated to device withou ELV with previous ISTA-P versions it will be vissible to the new ISTA like CAS without ELV from factory.
Change it back to the right state is possible with Expert Mode of WinKFP. Needed is to change bootloader and program to 9395657 from 9395656. All is visible on the screens an tested and working for me

For customers is cheaper , but for workshops is better to repair ELV. ELV is one from the antitheft protection , don't forget about this.

Time ago I have problems updating old ista / p with the CAS and be damaged with genuine diagnostic head.

Technical assistance I fix me on line.

Since then every time you update the software of a cas, I pray that it works.

I wonder too , this was probably BMW software problem...

Could be bad elv ,if available try slaving it in and test not many other ottions with this problem good luck
