RE: Lexia-PSA Interface To /C Via USB 2013
It still does not make sense, because it indicates that files with different personal data would have different serial numbers.. But what we have here is files with 2 different personal data but the same serials!!
I was asking the question to clarify if changing the serial can damage the firmware. May be someone can try changing the serial and re-flash it, if it does not work, re-flash the working one back, and if it works, then you know what to do if it gets blocked by PSA.. p.s. Of course I wouldn't have thought changing the serial would damage the file since different files have different serials, but when you HEX edit the files you will notice a couple of bytes in the middle of the file that I could not establish if they are related to the number. |

RE: Lexia-PSA Interface To /C Via USB 2013
I think mr. nlc personalized all of his updaters (and put checksum on it), but maybe the earlier versions had the same serial and not a random one? If there are different personal data but same serial, do both files work or is one of them faked?
From my understanding changing the nlc-updater makes this file unusable. Changing the interface serial with programmer may work. |

RE: Lexia-PSA Interface To /C Via USB 2013
I have a unique Firmware in my VCI and currently have no access to a tool to dump it. Hence, I have not tried to flash my device for fear of loosing it, otherwise I would have tried already.
The only changes in the original code are the serial and the couple of bytes.. I don't know if they are related to all change in the file (initial text, name, address + serial) or what? |

RE: Lexia-PSA Interface To /C Via USB 2013
If this image help a bit to explain between 'Reference Serial' and 'Serial of VCI'. Both parts of the data are programmed on top of the eeprom memory.
- Reference Serial: detected by the Interface checker - Serial of VCI: can only be seen on Diagbox report as in the image How Mr. NLC select or set each of the data infomation already explained by the members. |

Thanks @zmann,
I think the attachment will help a lot of people understand the difference between the various Firmware Versions/Serials. |
