RE: Rheingold 3.54.11 Standalone / ISTA-P 3.58.0.500 torrent
Solved my connectivity problem. Something that has been addressed many times but stumps newbies like me trawling through the mountain of info. I used a cheapo K+DCAN cable from ebay, therein lies my issue. I spent many hours changing drivers, you name it, the thing would not play (did work with Carly). I ended up trying a friend's expensive black cable (mine was the clear type) and it connects, identifies the car, works with ISTA-D, I can now move up to ISTA-P. I ended up finding the same cable 2nd-hand 'used once' for 25 bucks AU delivered, so a good deal there, now to learn the software. So far just cleared out recorded fault codes to see what is needed from here. All the important stuff came up green so the car should be okay, I can re-check after driving. Around 174K km on the clock with a 2006 E90 320D, this thing was BMW serviced every 10K km, should be good methinks.

Next step enable bluetooth for the phone, it seems it was delivered with the hardware but not the coding. Baby steps. Thanks to OP!

RE: Rheingold 3.54.11 Standalone / ISTA-P 3.58.0.500 torrent
I'm installing onto a Windows 7 x64 VM(virtual machine). ISTA-D(Rheingold) had been set up well (no problems). Then to make a separate VM for ISTA-P, I just made a copy of the ISTA-D VM, deleted the ISTA-D folder to save space (leaving all other system preparation installations in tact), and proceeded with the ISTA-P install.

But when I ran the ISTA-P installer, I got the following ISTA/P Setup error:

"The installation prerequisites for ISTA/P are not met. Installation is not possible. Further information can be found in the ISPI Next Planning Guide."

What am I missing?think

How much memory and free hard disk space are you allocating?

Minimum spec for memory is 2gb and free disk space 180GB if I remember correctly

The VM's memory is 2GB and free disk space is 182GB(of 250GB) on an external USB drive.
*The VM files are on an external USB drive, because the native computer (MacBook Air) drive is 'limited' to 256GB SSD while about 50GB reserved for Mac OS and another 50 or so GB used for Windows and other basic software.
** The computer's total memory of 4GB is being split 2GB/2GB for Host/Guest OS.

Update:
Thanks to member An163's post(#4) in:
http://cartechnology.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=7233

I think I found a solution - as intallation is in progress!

I have been trying to install on a VM(virtual machine):
- Win7 x64
- 2GB memory (for VM 'guest' system)
- 182GB free of 250GB virtual disk space

The 'host' system, a MacBook Air:
- i5 CPU @ 1.7GHz
- 256GB SSD - but only 130GB free hardware disk space (not enough for ISTA-P).

So I have been trying to setup the ISTA-P VM on an external USB drive. Yes, it's doable.

I used SuperOrca to open the original installer (BMW_ISPI_ISTA-P_SYS_3.58.0.500.msi).

In my case the hardware limitation categories that were clashing with the original installer's requirements were:
1. Memory 2GB versus the installer's 3GB requirement.
2. CPU Speed 1.7GHz versus the installer's 3.5GHz requirement.

Therefore, my solution was to edit (the msi file) as follows:

Edit ISTA-P installer MSI file (BMW_ISPI_ISTA-P_SYS_3.58.0.500.msi) using SuperOrca:
1. Edit 'MIN_MEMORY' from "3000" to "2000"
2. Edit 'MIN_CPU_CLOCK' from "3500" to "1700"
3. Edit 'SecureCustomProperties' from
"CHECKBOX_AUTO_UPDATE;INSTALL_MODE;NETFRAMEWORK35;PREVIOUSVERSIONFOUND"
to
"INSTALL_MODE;NETFRAMEWORK35;PREVIOUSVERSIONFOUND"
(deleted "CHECKBOX_AUTO_UPDATE;")

Now ISTA-P is installing - 5 hours and counting, but at the final stage of 5 install stages. Hopefully it will complete without further issues.

Update: Installation completed after a little more than 6 hours, but this long duration may be due to installing onto a VM and on an external USB drive.
Now just need to do final check connected to car. - (Update: Works!)

[Updating to 3.58.1.003]
I was getting the installation(update) aborting(failure) issue, and the only way I could get it to update was to do a clean reinstall of 3.58.0.500 then updating to 3.58.1.003 directly WITHOUT OPENING 3.58.0.500.
