RE: NBT EVO
The evo may actually be a cheaper unit to produce because it no longer uses an Intel CPU which was probably more expensive than the Arm processor it uses. Also, there are other benefits from dumping the Intel X86 cpu such as lower power consumption and less heat produced.

I very much doubt that the evo is less stable than the previous unit but I do think it might cost less. There is, in fact, more cpu horsepower in the evo so it should perform quite a bit better and I bet once we see one running the G11/G12 version of software, it will be even more impressive.

Thank you very much for that info i wasn't aware of such feature
So to resolve this issue would require me to match the vin# of NBT EVO to my car ?

You must send the headunit back to BMW for replacement.

In NBT-EVO the mechanism is called “Trusted VIN”

CORRECTION
Do not swap NBT-EVO HU-H2 head units between vehicles for testing.

Not applicable.

Surprised that the guy in "BMW Development" didn't mention anything about that. smile

Are you certain that the unit as to be return I'm currently monitoring a thread from another forum where they had the same issue and they resolved it but are tight lipped about sharing the coding procedure as usual

Don't know if there's a workaround for it or not. BMW just published the bulletin. I'm sure the professional retrofit shops will have a workaround or solution for it at some point.

It only effects NBT Evo units that have been updated with ISTA/P 3.57 or 3.58 data, if the NBT Evo has an older version of the software then it's still possible to retrofit it without it VIN locking as the Trusted VIN feature wasn't added until the 11-15 release of ISTA/P data.

Looks like that might be the command that triggers it when upgrading the flash. What command parameters are with the job?
