@Simon - what cable are you using to connect your tablet to odb2 port?

microUSB to LAN adapter, and then ENET cable. (for F-series)

I have been unlucky, purchasing bad USB to Lan Adapter after new Laptop\tablet without RJ45, big trouble at flash NBT, during upgrade firmware around last 25% Flash, lost connection NBT brick !
No panic, i used my desktop for recovery NBT, some tips from very expert user friends, NBT reborn
It's also true that this adapter no problems in others ECU, but some adapters may be a risk

I would pick a traditional laptop with LAN port for critical task (i.e. flash ECU). I've got loads of bad experience on USB devices too.

I think, the usage of a cheap usb->RJ45 converters for ECU programming is not a good idea. And the slow comps - too. But sometimes the powerfull PCs make surprises ))

I am planning to upgrade my tablet laptop HP X360 310 G1 to 500gb SSD M.2. ISTA is working very good, no problems at all with my current 128 SSD and it has a LAN port. If you put Ista P and D together then you need a bigger harddisk, your laptop will slow down, which is not so good. I only can't install Windows 7 X64 on this laptop so I need to use Windows 10 X64. I think the HP X360 310 G1 is a very good laptop to use it for coding etc.

Which tablet is good for ISTA D?

If you are just using to look up material and do basic diagnostics than you want at least dual core 2+GHz processor, 4-8 GB ram, and enough storage to run program.

I would not run programming from tablet.

Per the instructions, ISTA-D (or ISTA+) is run from %\Rheingold\TesterGUID\bin\Release\ISTAGUI.exe. You can right click ISTAGUI.exe and create shortcut that you can move wherever is convenient. You can also right click that shortcut or original ISTAGUI.exe and pin to Start or Taskbar. If your Rheingold is in your primary OS directory (eg. C:\Program Files (x86)\Rheingold\TesterGUI\bin\Release), you should run as administrator.
