Hahaha, you are now making fun of it! I couldn't find a bigger box to fit both PSU's so it has the wiring exposed and it took me so much time to squeeze the 100A shunt in that small plastic box w the display, mine is like FranksteinPSU but your copper links are darn HOT biggrin

cheap compared to some auto battery support units, the only downside i can see is you dont get the battery charger function, for some thats not a big deal. What a good idea mate high quality components - units. Well done.

Great idea ! +1 congrats

Thanks buzzard!!
I grabbed 2 pieces for like $40~$45 from ebay and approx $20 for copper bars and terminals and switches.I am just an DIY'er and didn't want to spend lots of money and that's why i built it for myself.I tested it on my E70 X535D with all the accessories turned on (heated seats, headlights, fog lights, rear window defogger, fan at highest speed, stereo, all interior lights) and the max current it saw on my X5 was approx 110 amps and it maintained its voltage right at 14.0 volts with load and at no load. These power supplies are built to run 24x7@365 days.Voltage is adjustable from 12.2 volts to 14.4 v max with very nice voltage regulation.Voltage just remains constant doesn't matter you load it with 120 amps or .1 amp.

I can sense that there will be high demand for JD200 on internet stores biggrin

I use Powermax PMBC-100 (100amp) works great. A little pricey but it's designed for programming

It is $200 less than the Shumacher INC-700A, but I have read mixed reviews on reliability. You have had no problems?

I haven't had problems so far. I flashed 2 f10's (535 & 550) multiple times and the longest programming session was 2hrs

It's is capable of load sharing up to ~80A@(13-13.7V max which is good for F8x series) in parallel Config. It doesn't look fancy but it does the job and it was fun to mod it.

nice guy ! yes congrats

i think that your projekt is a good template for a tutorial ? biggrin

in my basement i have two server power supplys, too.

I google about this power supplys in parallel mode, but nothing found.

its secret or can you help us ? wink

Maybe you googled something else? Here wink: http://bfy.tw/6XuG
First two entries, rcgroup and ultimaterc and this our DIY at BP (post 123) with a lots of discussion on its performance. There's even a YouTube video, just search the name.

In hindsight, the PSU that @ninja_zx11 is probably the best home made solution! My final conclusion is that the dual DPS-600PB is ok for coding/flashing sessions on our F8x series, but one should definitely have a voltmeter/ampmeter hooked up to it (ebay) and monitor the draw during flashing sessions.

Disclaimer: in order to attempt such a DIY, you need to have and understanding of electrical circuits, electronics and good soldering skills as the cables used were quite thick, I hope that helps and be safe.

Just got one of these too, very good as a mid to high level charger, simple to use.. Much safer than my bench PSU, you have to be careful, as easy to boil the cells !!!
