E60 530d engine runaway
Hi
Just got a call from my son saying is engine was running flat out and clouds of smoke. it would not turn off but managed to get it to shut down by putting it in drive. It happened just after he overtook some one. Any idea's. Thank you. dave king |

If he managed to get it to shut down by putting it in drive, what gear was he in when he overtook someone ?
Did he over rev the engine and it's now ingesting it's own engine oil through the Turbo ? |

The engine is running using it's oil as fuel instead of diesel.
Do not even try to start this car again until you have it with someone who knows about these kind of issues. |

from your description, the first thing coming to my mind is the problem of your fuel system, Could you dig a little deeper about the color of the smoke, and the how much fuel pressure is? Best Regards |

DO NOT START THE ENGINE AGAIN !
i think your turbo is gone..... check the clearance of the turbo. check and clean out intercooler if full of oil. |
