Alex I agree with you but what if something goes wrong with the file from (friend)?I think if anyone want to play with these ecus must do it correctly.i mean with original equipment

but what is something go wrong with genuine equipment? you think alientech will come fix your ECU?

What would happen in this situation ross:

use virtual read from genuine database, write file and brick ecu, ecu not recoverable

what support would be given? i always thought that there was disclaimers on protocols saying they hold no responsibility. maybe they help with immo off on new ecu?

we all now there is a risk when deal with newest ecus..but like ross sayed 90% is in user..offcourse every tool can fail iven laptop can fail in the midle of programing proces..but thats how it is..we learn every day from our mistakes and help eachother..if you brick ecu first try to recover it with new files(boot mode or sgo,frf) if its not acesable anymore u buy same ecu from scrapyard and try to adapt it or immo off..there are many options before you go to dealer or buy new ecu and if thats hapen with one car(ecu) but you done sucesfuly other 99% of work you are steel in busines

I have never had such issue,,,i have bricked 3 x ecu....i use the term bricked loosely as one i dropped off bench...one i soldered wires in wrong order,,,,3rd was bad flash which easy fixed....other two well u learn to be careful,,,,in situation of failed ecu you can send to alientech and they will fix error and diagnose....still not what you want when owner waiting for his car,but is small support ...such cases can be seen on ecuconnect
