Ultimate Ediabas/ISTA+ voltage control V3

RE: Ultimate ediabas voltage control
Hi, I think you misunderstood instructions. In your case you still need to put NodeEdiabasVoltageControlDll.dll renamed to obd32.dll even for ISTA+. NodeISTAVoltageControl.dll has to be put additionally with its original name to the same folder.

RE: Ultimate ediabas voltage control
(03-02-2017 20:29 PM)Node Wrote:  Hi guys,

I made a small utility suite which allows manual control of voltages which Ediabas sees from the interface such as OBD or CAN. It also includes additional ISTA+ support so it should work with ISTA as well. It's not dependent on INPA or ISTA versions and should work with any version of INPA, ISTA+ and others as well as it integrates between ediabas and cable driver and is completely transparent to high level software. Additional support for ISTA+ should work with any modern version as long as internal code will not change much. My aim is to make it so all ABLs and other procedures work flawlessly.

The link to the suite below

Installation instructions:
1. If you are using STD:OBD rename existing obd32.dll to obd32.ebas.dll within Ediabas\Bin folder. For INPA its in C:\Ediabas\Bin, for ISTA+ its in Ediabas\Bin within ISTA+ folder. STD:CAN users do the same with can32.dll -> can32.ebas.dll. I do not have any CAN cable to test myself, so its not tested though.
2. Extract the zip file.
3. Rename NodeEdiabasVoltageControlDll.dll to obd32.dll or can32.dll respectively and copy it to Ediabas\Bin.
UPDATE:
4. Additional step for ISTA+ support only: copy included NodeISTAVoltageControl.dll to Ediabas\Bin folder within ISTA+ installation.

Then enjoy the results: to control voltage run the exe from zip which can be placed anywhere you want. If exe application is not started, this software becomes completely transparent and does not influence any readings at all.

System requirements: Visual Studio 2015 x86 runtime must be installed (same as required for last versions of ISTA+).

P.S. This is the second release now so please still report any bugs. I've tested it as much as I could but I use ICOM myself, so this was more of a curiosity project for me.

P.P.S. This voltage control utility is not designed to and will not work for ICOM users.

The link to downloading does not work, update please. Thanks.

RE: Ultimate Ediabas/ISTA+ voltage control V2
Maybe this is not the right place to ask, but in my opinion, this would be useful for all K+DCAN users. So here it is:

Could any of the "electronics wizards" pinpoint the component which is responsible for detecting clamp states in K_DCAN interface ?
Is it a matter of circuitry, components or both which makes the difference between a detecting and a non-detecting interface ?

Or, to make the story short, which interface/variant should we look for to be able to benefit from this new feature ?

P.S. Node, please forgive me for polluting your thread. Yet, I thought this is somehow related...

RE: Ultimate Ediabas/ISTA+ voltage control V2
Well, maybe someone knows schematic of K+DCAN cables better, but from general electronics I would not expect any special components for that. One or two resistors connected to OBD pin 1 and going to FTDI chip (or whatever happens to be on them) is enough in principle for that.

XZBMW RE: Ultimate Ediabas/ISTA+ voltage control V2
Do you have a diagram of the interface Ediabas / Hardware / OBD
in older versions Ediabas is also ADS
is shown a diagram of the detection and voltage at KL15 and Kl30
The USB is similarly only a mediator is FDTI
Chemat alone in Ediabas is quite complicated, of course, are big simplify,
KL15 simplified option for KKL VAG USB

Of course, it is different DCAN
KL15 is detected by Atmegi lined DCAN
but the interface K-DCAN,
K-Line has the same structure with pin 1 OBD2
KL15 is the voltage of the DSR (Pin6) (STD: OBD ADS) (RS232, FDTI)
Kl30 with RI (Pin9)
Sory for poor English

RE: Ultimate Ediabas/ISTA+ voltage control V2
The provided schematic with transistor has a problem that it will detect voltages starting at around 1V as ignition on. Probably not a problem in majority of cases, but I would prefer a simple voltage divider with two resistors and maybe a diode (if there is no internal one in FT) or a resistor with zener. Should work much better and have more real detection threshold.
