ODacia  Digiprog 3 eprom milage change megane 2.
Hi all

I am new to using digiprog 3. I have a milage to change after fitting new clocks to a renault megane 2. I thought i could do it through the obd. But won't work. So I've been trying on some donor clocks. Which I tried to connect to the eprom chip. Why it was still on the board. I got a milage after some time. But didn't seem correct as it was a lot higher than what was on the clocks. I desoldered the chip and tried again. But it says now chip not found. Is there a certain way the st01 clips to the chip or can it be anyway. Craig.

Those clips you got with digiprog are probaly bad quality, you probably need better ones from 3M or Pomona....

The clip has to be the right way around, with the marked lead on Pin 1 if that is what you're asking.

Pin 1 is on the bottom left when the writing is right way up, or the tapered side of the chip is down, or at the dot if there is one.

By the way, the clips that come with the Digi are garbage, first thing you should do is replace it with a quality one like a Pomona.

If someone took the time to help you, the least you can do is take a few seconds and press two buttons!

Can't beat this site for help. Brilliant it is. That's the first thing I will do later. Order new leads for it. And try to work out the Wright way ti connect it. Can it damage the chip if connected wrong.

Usually no damage, in a brain fart moment I have clipped on backwards and did no damage but it also depends on what chip. biggrin

You might need this if you are new to Digiprog. Most clones the wires are all the wrong color on a few of the cables, you should modify them to the proper colors.

If it's the one that came with the Digi, it's probably junk. Your picture looks like a Pomona Clip but might be a fake.

Do you know the best place to get the Pomona clips and parts numbers if anyone knows them.

It is the 95c56 eprom. I broke my st01 clip. It wouldn't line up proper with the chip. Is it OK to do with the chip connected to the board.

Always safer to remove the chip, how brave are you? rolling

I never remove them on the ones that I have to work with, but I know from experience. Can't tell you if it is safe on a Megane. nospeak

If your clip is broken, they are on Ebay, search for Pomona SOIC8 or 3M SOIC8.

In the meantime, if you want to do it you can solder with ST47 or make a cable if you don't have it. Clone ST47 is usually the wrong colors and should be reworked, have a look at this.

Edit: FYI you only need Pins 1,2,3,4,5 & 8 for a 93c56.

Sorry all its a 93c56 chip not 95.

I have managed to connect to the eprom. But it keeps coming up with very high milage like a stupid number I change it and it says a totally different milage which I I putted. Could anyone know why or could I be reading the wrong eprom
