Isn't this the image of the nano? As opposed to the great loaned VAS5054a you mentioned. I am looking for a 5054a so images of circuitry of good ones and their source would be very usefull.

Yes that is the image of nano. That would mean no holidays for me this summer. Oh you wanted the pictures of VAS5054a?? If it was mine I would open it. But I did not, due to respect/moral issues.

After my experience I am not getting anything fake unless it is perfect quality. Chinese are selling VAS5054a with fake OKI chip. I think you need this in order to flash (some come with a cut pin).

VAS5055 is same as VAS5054a without bluetooth. This might be cheaper than VAS5054a and compatible with Odis engineering too.

I will find out the cost when I go to VW parts department.

If you do find a good Chinese clone, then I am also interested. I had to return mine because board pictures supplied were different than the one received. (solder and chips missing).

However have you thought about using the Chinese VAS5054a tool and brick your ECU or TCU or any other expensive control modules of your car?? Well after having this bad experience, I might as well have bought from the beginning VAS5055 or VAS5054a original tool.

It would be nice if there was some sort of buyers section. With people leaving feedback. Having to research takes much time. If we had this and buyers were better informed more easily then maybe manufacturers would take more care even if final price is more expensive (in the short term).

Yes this is my concern also with regards clones. And for this reason I have been hesitant and firstly purchased an original HEX-USB+CAN Interface but of course that is very limited in what it can do although it does do it well!

I don't know which cluster you have but cant you use XProg somebody must have the bin? I've tried extracting bins from the sgo today but don't quite seem to get the files i'd expect.

I got the instrument cluster (8R0920900) flashed at the end to firmware 0258 with odis engineering and VAS5054a successfully. Dont worry I just lost my weekend, then most of Monday and I believe I got a life lesson of not testing hardware with imaginary capabilities. Comments corrected.

You cannot believe how happy I was after seeing progress bar displaying progress in odis engineering (with VAS5054a) when flashing my bricked instrument cluster.

I also have VCDs, which is very useful for coding.

The positive:
Updated instrument cluster to latest firmware which was not possible by SVM
Updated PDC (parking assist) to newer firmware which was not possible by SVM.
