To do energy diagnostics in ista you need a IBS, so that the electronic can measure current going in/out the battery.
you can read out fault codes with ista and maybe this gives a further clue where the problem could be.

Yes, read the fault codes, see if all modules respond. Does that car have independent heating? Does it have aftermarket alarm? Does is go to sleep if you disconnect battery for a while and then reconnect it?

I know this is silly, but I not quite sure what sleep mode will be like? none of those equitments you mention above. thanks.

Gear indicator should go out after like 20 minutes. Then its sleeping.
