RE: Good or Bad Vas5054A
Ahoi,
sorry, no answer, just another question ...
I´ve got a clone which is totally different from the pictures adverstised in the seller´s description, but paypal told me, that taking pictures from the boards inside, which would be the most obvious thing, may cause the seller to deny any complaints about his item ... is there a possibility to figure out, that there´s no AMB Bluetooth Chip inside via software ? ... maybe someone has the muse to take a look at the pictures of my boards and can give me just one hint, how to get this item back to the seller with total refund smile

If there are board photos then you have the right to check if those photos are correct. Photos become part of the specifications since there are different vas5054a pcbs depending on the MY or the seller or the manufacturer.

Yes you have the right to check board photos if that conform to the sale documents. How would you know otherwise??? I sent back a vas5054a because it was different, after opening a resolution case.

You are missing the TJA1054, low speed CAN chip, and the buzzer is missing too. So you should go over and see if you are not missing any other important components. Good, high speed ram would help. OKI is useless, so don't bother.
At least your Bluetooth is genuine.

If you get what is in the picture, then that looks like a good enough tool for using. Genuine AMB2300 is always a good thing. The rest, RAM and other minor components you can improve.

RE: Good or Bad Vas5054A
Bluetooth looks genuine (same as one of my clone vas5054a), though softing AG bluetooth board is not exacly same as my original vas5054a amb2300 board. Gold vs Silver appearance on cerain areas.

Most importantly clone amb2300 even if original comes with blocked serial.

RE: Good or Bad Vas5054A
The buzzer is not necessary, but it's there to beep at you when you leave the tool plugged in a car... So it doesn't get forgotten.

You would also have to open the two boards apart and inspect carefully.

RE: Good or Bad Vas5054A
This is how to choose:

So best order is
1. Original
2. Original amb2300 (locked serial) reworked vas5054a (can you find one??)
3. Original amb2300 but vas5054a needs rework
4. Vas5054a which was reworked but bluetooth is fake

Perfect version; oh where does this fall in the list?? Is it just a marketing name??

Just something to consider. Can you find a 2 or 3 or 4??

Have near 4 but can easily become a 4 with soldering skills
have a 3 but can become a 2 with soldering skills
have a No 1. Yeap my latest purchase.

Have all parts for rework. Dont have time but having the original I stopped caring but have the other 2 as a back up.

Mostly interested in having a vas5054a which works online for removing CP.

For other reasons I use original VCDs and original VCP depending what I need, coding or flashing firmware or calibrations, etc

The other option is getting treated by the dealer (oh $$$$)
