Hi to all,

let me explain it better: I tried an ecu update, but it finished bad after the random disconnections of the alliance can clip erased the flash and something into the eeprom was corrupted or missing. the immo light was on and the engine didn't started. I desoldered and backuped the 29f400 with a programmer, but when I open it with a hex editor I see a lot of not so human readable characters and I'm clueless on what parts I need to edit to recover my file. so I was asking myself... is there a way to decode it somehow?

I would say for the 'right' person to help you in this situation, you would need to post the exact ECU, year model, and model of vehicle you are attempting to work on.

some here are BMW only, and some GM only.. you get my meaning?

you are going to see alot of ASCII and Hex inside a binary file. Some are easy to understand and some are not very well laid out in structure.

You're right.
the car it's a 2004 Renault Clio 1.4 16v 98hp k4j engine with siemens ems 3134 - 8200326741 - s118301122B ecu.
comparing my backuped bin with one tooked from another car there are some small differences, but I can't understand what those strings stands for.

Did you read this backup before you did anything to the car?

The backup was made after the car refused to start. the problem was due to a can clip reprog stopped at 13% (alliance sonde random disconnections) and no way to recover it, even with the an2135sc based sonde because all identification numbers were zeroes. that's why I'm searching for a way to make the bin readable, replace zeroes with proper numbers and recover it as it was before.

I managed to recover my .bin dump. for completition that's what I did:
hex workshop software with compare files differences function, missing from good software like xvi32 or hxd. compared my dump, PierreTheron's backup (thank you) and another one passed by another kind user from another forum. the sections with differences found by the software that looked like possible engine management that the faulty alliance can clip erased I copy pasted into my file and flashed.
at first the car wasn't starting and red engine light was flashing due to a throttle body position error, then I had the idea to try to reprogram it with can clip and reprog 151. now the engine it's starting and looks like all the previous data are restored.
