Don't stress ! This way is the best I know and I have it in my car ! No metafile to touch !!
You only have to update your FW then your map (no metafile to modify) and just use the Carson activation without modify anything ! And all works of course. If problem(you won't have) you can downgrade the map and return to previous situation. But I am sure that all will work like a charm !

so we have two diffrent point of view. one side talking about modify original map VW folder etc like Carpediem

and Walawa75 talking about easy way. so walawa75 can you confirm that:

1. upgrade your FW to 767 or 770 (depends on your HW)
2. upgrade maps using original audi files without any modifications
3. install Carson patch from your post 77 - just copy content of patch to sdcard and run script

am I right or not? cause I am so confused and I dont want to brick my device

walawa75 - did u use same method and it works? do u know other people doing it in same easy in fact way?

Believe Walawa75 i must activate the map though, i have done the modification. I hope it works, if not i will try without modify

1. update your FW to 676 or 770
2. download original map 2014

Yes you must make changes in original with metafile and vw folder. Step 1 in post 31 is important for the patch! Use the patch folder from post 77 from walawa75, this is the one with the right FSC file for activating maps 2014!

Edit: it's not neccessary to modify the metafile according walawa75!
